Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Brother Hollingsworth's Vision

“From the womb to the Tomb”

The desire to do something like this goes back several years.  I really had a burden to have a ministry and call that ministry “From the womb to the Tomb” (a friend of mine gave me this name).

I believe that it is the church’s responsibility to be a mother to all her members or “children”.   I believe that is what God expects out of us.  It is our responsibility to minister to people from birth until death.  Then what we need to do is provide for each segment of our congregation.

We have churches that have youth programs and programs for each age category but are we making as big of a difference as we can?  Sunday and Wednesday nights are great, but what about the rest of the time? I began to pray over what to do and how to structure this type of ministry.

The first phase of this vision will be the school.  We will begin with K-4th grade in August 2006, adding a minimum of one grade each year until reaching the 12th grade.   This way, no child that ever attends the school will have a reason to attend another school.  We will provide a great education while giving the student a Christian base that will equip them to have a positive impact on society.

We are focusing on excellence yet actually assisting children to excel to their full potential not only spiritually but also academically and socially.  We want each student to have opportunities when it comes to leaving high school because of the character of that student and their academic excellence.  We do not want to herd students through.

We understand we have a small window of opportunity that God has provided us with to have a tremendous impact on these lives to change the world for Him.  As hard as it is sometimes to realize, our children are only there for us to have an impact on for a short time.  Then they move on to raise and provide for their own families.

We want these children to become adults that children will cherish calling them their parents or spouses calling them their spouse.  We have a lot of work ahead of us concerning the school.  Once the school is running well and self sufficient, we will begin the next phase of the vision.

This will be the point where our ministry will expand to take care of elderly people.  It will be an assisted living facility at or close to the church, so these precious people that have given their life to make someone else’s life better can be assisted.  They will not have to worry about attending church, the church will be right there.  There will be activities throughout the week provided for them and they can socialize with their friends.

I want you to know that we realize this is an important part of the vision that God has given but right now, our focus is on the school.  We realize this will take a considerable amount of money but we believe that God will provide through His people like you.  We also realize this will take some time, but we believe that God will open doors when it is time.

The one thing that our Pastor Brother Bobby Bentley keeps saying is “why not us and why not now”.   I believe God will bless our efforts because this is from God.  I do not know if I will live to see all these things happen, but if God has chosen us and has chosen this time for us to start this process and someone else to finish it then I trust him.

Most of the time we all like to look to the end but before there can be an end there must be a beginning.   We ask each of you to be a part of this endeavor.  We need a lot of finance and supplies but most of all your prayers.  Please pray that God will touch each student, parent, and teacher that walks through our doors so each one will never be the same.
