1.) What is Marshall Christian Academy's Plan for the future?
As of the 2009-2010 School Year, MCA provides education for grades K2 thru 8th Grade. Each year MCA plans to add an additional grade, until we reach the 12 grade. At this time MCA will remain in the present facilities. We are looking and preparing for the future however, aware that within several years the school will have to build additional facilities to accommodate the expanding school population. 28 acres of land has already been purchased in anticipation of this expansion.
2.) What is Marshall Christian Academy's status, as far as accreditation?
A school must be two years old before it can apply for accreditation. MCA applied last year and is presently in candidacy status. An accreditation team will be visiting MCA in the spring of 2009. MCA's self study program is complete and the school is completing final preparations for the spring visit. Once the visit is complete and MCA is recommended for accreditation the school will hold dual accreditation with ACSI and SACS/CASI.
3.) Does Marshall Christian Academy have sports or athletic programs?
MCA currently provides Basketball, which was added in the 2008 School year, for both boys and girls. Plans are for cheerleading, boy's baseball, and girl's softball to be added next year, if there is sufficient interest. As the school grows the athletic program will be expanded as well.
4.) What is the difference between the curriculum used at MCA and those used in public schools?
MCA seeks to have a positive relationship with local public schools. Many parents want the choice to have their child educated from a Christian worldview where the Bible, prayer, and biblical morality are a part of the education process. The Abeka curriculum tends to be a little more advanced. Many years ago the public school curriculum was taught from the Judeo-Christian worldview. However, this is not the case any more. MCA seeks to educate the whole child - academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Bible is taught daily as a class and chapel is each Friday. Prayer is part of every school day.
